Since the company’s founding over a century ago, the Ford Motor Company has been one of the most well-renowned names in the automotive industry and the industrial revolution in general. With a history like this, there’s a lot to cover. Here at Miller Huges Ford, we understand the importance of finding a reputable brand that you can trust. And there's a reason we swear by the Ford name for reliable and powerful vehicles. In this blog post, we’ll explore the rich history of the brand and why it holds a place near and dear to our hearts!

Humble Beginnings

Henry Ford, the company's founder, created the first automobile in 1896, just as the market was beginning to take off. The quadricycle, which was his first invention, was very different from the cars used today. He formally established the Ford Motor Company in 1903 and started producing his first cars, which affluent customers primarily purchased. The company was releasing the Model T by the year 1908 had arrived. In the early days of the automobile industry, this was undoubtedly one of the most well-known and significant cars. Ford was looking for a productive way to keep up with the exponentially growing demand. As a result, the assembly line was born, forever altering not only the industry itself but many factory setups across the globe.

A Century of Innovation

Ford has over 100 years of operational experience. You sure don’t become a company of that kind of stature and longevity without true innovation and risk-taking.

In fact, the company experienced every major development in the automotive industry. They were eventually called to assist in World War II and have been instrumental in the development of American infrastructure. The F-Series trucks and the Ford Mustang were two of Ford Motor Company's most well-known models that were first released around this time.

Ford Motor Company Today

As impressive as the history might be, we certainly cannot discount today’s production. It’s no secret that Ford is one of the biggest and most successful automotive companies in the world. The company produces over five million units each year at factories all around the world.

Not to mention that their versatility remains unmatched by competitors. Whether you’re seeking a reliable commuter vehicle or a heavy-duty truck, there are no limits to what you can find. No matter which vehicle you choose, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that it’s durable, dependable, and will deliver the best possible performance for both work and fun.

History of Ford Canada

It’s no secret that Canada's climate is colder, our population is smaller, and our economy is much different compared with the United States. These and other factors helped to create some fascinating variations in Canadian automobiles over the past century. Even vehicles made by the same manufacturer frequently deviated from the American design standard.

The first car built by the Ford Motor Company of Canada in early 1904 was the Model C. A total of 117 cars were made in the first year. Most were 2-cylinder Model C's but a few 4-cylinder Model B's were also built. Both were made in 1905, along with the Model F, a new 2-cylinder car.

Ford of Canada also began building trucks during the Model T years. Many Canadian-made Ford trucks were built stronger than their American counterparts. Consequently, many Canadian Ford trucks had higher ratings than those in the States. Generally, Fords built in Canada mirrored their American counterparts. At times, a body type may have been omitted from Canadian production but still offered in limited numbers as an import.
